Dogecoin (Ð) is a P2P cryptocurrency created by 2 Software Engineers in December 2013: Billy Marcus and Jackson Palmer. It began as a bit of a joke, adopting a logo of a Shiba Inu (Japanese) dog meme. However, it is anything but today.
Dogecoin blockchain is an open-source cryptocurrency based on Litecoin technology. At the time of writing, it has a market cap of about $9 billion, placing it just outside the top 10. At one time, it had a market cap of over $30 billion, demonstrating the massive volatility in cryptocurrencies. However, it remains a liquid currency with relatively narrow bid-ask spreads. Liquidity allows players to get in and out of it quickly.
It has attracted the attention of well-known individuals, including Elon Musk, Mark Cuban, and Snoop Dogg. And, of course, it has also drawn the attention of some American players looking to deposit at a crypto casino.
